Our “of the Olentangy” series aims to inform and engage our community with their regional watershed. These events are free and great for all ages.
In the Seventh of our “of the Olentangy” speaker series, Django Grootmeyers, of the North American Mycology Project will be joining us at the Terradise Nature Center to discuss the diversity of fungus found inside the Olentangy watershed.
Django Grootmyers grew up half a mile from the Olentangy River in Columbus, and became fascinated with nature walking the Olentangy Trail with his family. He has been a research assistant in the Ohio State University’s Slot Lab for Fungal Evolutionary Ecology since 2017. He studies fungal systematics and has been involved in cataloging the fungi of Ohio independently, and in conjunction with the North American Mycoflora Project for the past seven years. He has a special interest in surveying the fungi that grow along the floodplains of rivers in the Midwest, especially along the Scioto and its tributaries in Ohio and along the Great Miami and its tributaries in Ohio and Indiana.
Join us on October 24th for Django’s presentation.
We are able to accommodate our guests best when we know whom to expect, please register for this event via the link below.
We are happy to have Django joining us to discuss the Fungi “of the Olentangy.”
